OUR STORY

In the second half of the 1990s, Eugenio Ferri — a modeler since the 1960s and a professional mechanical designer — decided with his son to turn decades of experience into reality by developing special modeling tools and a line of professional airbrush compressors entirely made in Italy, launched under the SOFT AIR and ARMOUR EXTRA DETAILS brands.

Within just a few years, the strong success of these in-house products brought the company international visibility and led to exclusive distribution agreements in Italy for high-end aftermarket accessories and figures, including Aber, Plusmodel, Jordi Rubio, Aires, Warriors, Custom Dioramics and Hornet. Shortly after, the Steel Models catalog expanded rapidly in both size and prestige. We were among the first in Europe to import what were then emerging kit manufacturers such as Tristar, Bronco, Meng, Takom, Zoukeimura, Alpine, Young Miniatures and Romeo Models.

PASSION

Our passion for modeling and constant search for excellence have driven continuous catalog growth, including major partnerships for Italian distribution of leading Spanish paint brands such as Ammo of Mig, Vallejo and AK Interactive. In 2009 Steel Models entered the B2C online retail market. Steady growth and strong customer support have enabled us to operate a 1,000 sqm warehouse and a public store of nearly 400 sqm, offering over 25,000 products and an average stock of 150,000 items ready for delivery.
